AWARDS SEASON #1: GOLDEN GLOBES

Last sunday, Awards season has been kicked off by The Golden Globes—or as Tina Fey said, '71st Annual Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Lee Daniel's The Butler Golden Globe Awards'. Here's the thing about Golden Globes: people don't give a fuck about the awards itself. This is just another excuse to get drunk and party all night, because in the Golden Globes, every body gets the prize.

I've been anxiously waiting for this moment, and it didn't disappoint mein an unexpected way. Well, this is why.

This year, Tina and Amy hosted the show for the second time. And I gotta tell you, judging by that night's performance, there WILL be a 3rd time. The first 6 minutes of the show—Tina and Amy's opening—was golden. They just spit these super funny jokes without crossing the line of awkwardness. Best line of the night was when fey described Gravity as, “The story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”

'The Beautiful Mess' as Tina said continues with Jacqueline Bisset, who won best supporting actress for the Starz miniseries, "Dancing on the Edge," seemed as stunned at her unexpected victory as everybody else.  She awkwardly walk to the stage and blabbering f-bombs. Her walk was so long, that it cut her time for speech. But she didn't give up and just went on, even though the orchestra had played the music.

Then there were drunk Emma Thompson, presenting the award barefoot, with shoes on her right hand, and cocktail on the other. As Cate Blanchett accepting her best movie drama actress award, the orchestra tried to play her off. She wondered whether home viewers could hear the music, or if we just thought winners talked faster because they were having a panic attack.

But what makes me more crack-up was the time when Matthew McConaughey winning best movie drama actor for "Dallas Buyers Club," and beginning his speech with his "Dazed and Confused" signature laid-back mantra, "All right, all right, all right." That is beyond funny.

So yeah, it's all what I could hope about the Golden Globes, and much much more. Because it was not such an uptight event, there would be an OMG moment. But last sunday was one of the most even, I think, with the most OMG Moments. Zuper fun.

But let's not forgot what the attendees put so much effort for the 'beautiful mess' show, their fashion. Here are my best list!
  1. Amy Adams in Valentino Couture. I'm beginning to believe that Amy Adam's stylist is reading my blog, cause this is what I've been hoping she wear to awards season. Yes, it is such a departure for what Amy used to wear. But she looks amazing. This look managed to make her look super sexy, yet still elegant and not slutty at the same time. BUT, I she actually arrived with a cape. Had she wore the cape, this will be beyond amazing. Maybe it's because Lupita worn a cape too, and her publicist didn't want a b*tch-stole-my-look moment.
  2. Caitlin FitzGerald in Emilia Wickstead. This look isn't what we always see on a big red carpet. But Caitilin managed to stand out. The sky-blue color is great over her fair skin and blonde hair. Simple, but not underwhelming.
  3. Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé. SWEET MOTHER OF GOD SHE LOOKS DAMN AMAZING. Normally for a big award show like this, a black dress would be boring, but this woman has a charisma to wear this amazing black dress. It oozes old Hollywood glamor. Cate continues to baffle me every red carpet appearance. I don't know how she can top this.
  4. Zoë Saldana in Prabal Gurung. Usually, celebrity avoid wearing short dresses to a big event like this—they tend to wear gowns. But Zoe isn't just wore a cocktail-length dress, this is a statement dress. The dress is super busy with all the details that regularly won't work together. But somehow, she looks cool and edgy. On the interview, Zoe explained that Prabal wanted her to wear this dress, because when designing the collection, he cannot imagine anyone wearing this dress than Zoe herself. She is truly a fashion darling.
  5. Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren. I literally died and gone to heaven—pretty sure I saw Jesus. No superlatives and adjectives can describe how amazing this dress is. The cape is the star here. She looks like a superhero—my fashion hero, that is. This is the reason why I love awards season. SHE IS DEFINITELY MY ONE-TO-WATCH.
I just can't wait to see SAG Awards later this week. I'm anxiously waiting. Again.
